The hike to the Blaueishütte was the real target, so we visited the Alps in August last year.
As you may have noticed from previous posts, we are not big walkers.
A little bit here and a bit of a walk there … but please just not too long and not too strenuous.
Well, yes. The hike to Blaueishütte may not be as long
– 12 km there and back –
but it’s very, very tiring.
It takes about 2 1/2 – 3 hours (the latter number for untrained)
until it reaches its destination.
Not a long time and mileage are also feasible. Says one.
However, one must expect that the way you rises nearly vertically. Yes. Hard to believe. But so it is.
The road is extremely steep and at the end, the final height differences (total 1150m) rises to stairs.
Not just any stairs … bah … that would be too simple, but high stairs. Tedious cut into the rock stairs.
In order to briefly mention:
Approximately in half of the hike you will reach the Schärtenalm
where you can relax and strengthen the first time typically Bavarian dishes
with snacks and a drink.
Later, you can reach the Blaueishütte, there also exist the possibility to taste with Bavarian specialties.
Those who want more can go a little further to the Blaueisgletscher.
Have to be a beautiful but exhausting way. How you can read, we did not go there.
We have begun after a goulash soup the way back to reach exhausted the parking at the end.
Conclusion: At each step, I thought, never again!
And yet it was so beautiful and
the feeling of having accomplished something so great
that we will take a walk again this year.
