“Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen.”

CornerView – stranger

Last weekend we decided to make a short trip to enjoy the wonderful autumn.
And what lends itself more than the Alps in Bavaria?

I was not born in Bavaria, but I moved here in my youth.
Bavaria is my home.

However, despite the many years it feels like I’m a stranger in Bavaria.
It begins with the language.
Bavarian is a dialect that you – if actual Bavarian is spoken – do not understand readily.
At the first time at the new school was very strange for me.
I understood nothing.
Now after many years I understand the language clearly.
I even think I speak a little bit of Bavarian, or at least a German.

The Bavarians consider themselves to be German, but actually they would like a country in itself.
Encapsulated from Germany, a separate republic.
Or even monarchy, as it want the Bavarian royalists.
The actual Bavarian restrict the Bavarian country also.
The Franconia, which belongs partly to Bavaria, is already the land of Prussia.
For everything above a certain imaginary boundary is not Bavarian but prussian.
Although it still belongs to Bavaria.
Strange, do not you think?

Bavaria is strongly connected with the church.
There are many customs and traditions, I do not know and also do not celebrated.
But I’m very interested.
Even the Bavarian food is partly another, than I was accustomed to as a child.
Roast pork and dumplings, a sour potato salad, apple strudel.

Bavaria is a rich country.
It’s a country in which the children receive a good education.
For example, the Bavarian High School is one of the most difficult schools of Germany
= education is not uniform in Germany.
Bavaria’s conservative, christian and yet so colorful.
Bavarians are often grumpy and have a quirky sense of humor.
And I love it.
Bavaria is a very beautiful country with a different nature.
The highlights include Munich, the subalpine lakes and the Alps.
And a few castles.

The best known is Castle Neuschwanstein in Hohenschwangau.
It is about two hours away from us.
And we also visited it on our short trip.

We thought we walk to the castle, buy tickets and make an English guide
(it is only possible to get into the castle with a guide, and we want to practice English).
We did not expect the masses of tourists that flock on a beautiful autumn to Neuschwanstein.
Four hours would have lasted until the next guide.
We have decided to come back on a cold winter day.

Bavaria is well worth a visit – I can put any to the heart.
But until then … I will show you more of the country in which I live.
Let’s make together a year travel through Bavaria … do you like to do?
And then you will no longer be a stranger.

Castle Neuschwanstein from afar.
And on the first image right beside the mountain called Säuling. (2047 m)
Exactly 20 years ago (madness is not it?), I have climbed this mountain with a group of friends.
We all got to know in our training as a nurse  and are always friends.
Up there I experienced chamois in the wild and celebrated the summit above the clouds.

Top image photographed my daughter.
She stood on the bridge Marie, of which one has a wonderful view of Neuschwanstein Castle.
The bridge was named after Queen Marie and performs on the Pöllatschlucht.
And it is very, very high.

In addition to the Castle Neuschwanstein is only a few kilometers away Castle Hohenschwangau.
The castle was the first one and Bavarian king Ludwig II has there spent his nursery.
Castle Neuschwanstein was built later by Ludwig II.
He wanted to idealize his idea of a knight’s castle from the Middle Ages.

Autumn in Bavaria

This is a typical house with murals from the Bavarian Alps.
Because where I live there is rarely painted houses,
because it depends in what area you are.

CornerView – view on my street

In my street live many old people,
since their homes were built.
And a few families who are newly involved.
Here live many, many cats and a few dogs.
Sometimes you talk with the neighbor over the fence,
but there are hardly any closer contact between people.
In my street not much happens.
Actually, nothing happens.
Few pedestrian, but some cars.
Sometimes a few children who ride a bicycle or skateboard.
A village street.
Nothing more.

This is the view of the road, where I live:

The view from my living room window onto the street.

Corner View – pets

Francesca gave me the idea to tell you about our trip with Frieda.
Sometime in the summer she asked if it’s hard to travel with our dog.
Basically no.
Quite a lot you can not do with a dog.
But you know that as soon as a dog receives in the family,
and decides it needs to go with the family in every holiday, on each trip.
And once you know that, you look to its destinations from other points.

Germany is a relatively dog-friendly country,
dogs are allowed almost everywhere to go into the restaurant, the cafe, the hotel.
There are special dog beaches by the sea, and especially popular are trips to the mountains.
But from Germany I do not want to tell you,
because I prefer to travel far away instead of staying in the near of my home.

We considered and deliberate …
there are many places and countries wishing we like to see and visit.
We chose France because everywhere we read on the internet about traveling with a dog,
France ranked first as dog friendly country.
And yes, it’s true.

There are many, many accommodations for travelers with dog,
there are many, many dog owners in France,
and the most beautiful, there are many endless beaches where dogs are allowed.
Most dogs run off leash there,
so there are always meetings between dogs that run very peaceful.
A little sniffing, a little play … and every dog went his own way again.
The beaches were very clean despite many dogs. The dogs had all well-behaved.

Our Frieda felt very, very well  near the sea.
She could run endlessly,
there was so much to discover ( algae) and sniffing ( and again algae).
Frieda – she does not like water – even went a few steps into the sea.
One evening Frieda discovered a cancer that ran across the beach.
She was fascinated.
Sniffing, licking over it … and no, not eating, just watching.

I very much hope that Josef is going to showyou  many, many pictures on his own blog.
And he will talk to you about this fantastic trip.
Because I can show you only the images
– unfortunately –
but nothing to tell you about the trip to this beautiful island.
Have a look at Josef and maybe … yes, he will show you the images soon.

CornerView – favorite clothes

Last week there was a picture of me , this week I show you my favorite clothes.
Depending on what I’m doing , I wear appropriate clothing ( more or less).
Here is a selection of different situations.

***

Clothes for jogging and a glass of water for then.
This reminds me that I finally beat my baser and should go out and run.
( now I have a bad conscience )

20131119-DSC_3880323

It’s the clothes that I actually wear.
Jeans, T -shirt, sweater and scarf ( I freeze easily )

20131119-DSC_3882323

This is the dress for the days on which I do not feel cold.
Namely, when it is summer and very hot.
(at this time there is no thick socks)
20131119-DSC_3883323

And here is my night clothes . My summer night clothes . Yes with thick socks. Mostly in summer.
In winter, it looks a bit different, because I wear a long-sleeved top, long pajama pants
and usually twice two thick pair of socks.
( I freeze quickly … I have, I believe , already mentioned)

20131119-DSC_3884323

And now I rush to all corners and watch what you wear.

CornerView – wine

The end of June we made a trip to one of the wine regions of Germany.
One of the few vineyards here in Bavaria: the Franconian countryside.
We visited a friend and her family.
It was a great time.
We hadn’t only relaxed, we shot also a lot of new photos.
An all-round great  trip with good food, sightseeing and strolling in Wurzburg,
short hikes through the vineyards and to a ruin, evening stroll through the picturesque Karlstadt,
where just guested a culinary mile with delicacies and a great cocktail bar.

If you are traveling in the vineyards, then there exists wonderfully relaxing tranquility,
only broken by the hum and drone of bees and bumble bees,
the chirping of birds and the occasional chugging of a tractor.
There were few people on the go ( it was very hot these days ),
so that we could enjoy a great view of the area.

CornerView – all the small things

Hi friends,
Autumn has arrived everywhere … rather, he passed soon again.
It is a great pleasure to walk on sunny autumn days in the forest.
The smell of fresh leaves always reminds me of the crayons from my childhood.
And the sun breaks through the colorful foliage and leaves an amazing play of colors.
It is a fantastic season.

It is the season where you will find lots of little things along the way.
Colorful leaves, acorns, chestnuts, pine cones …
